Studio Policies

TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Annie and Guillermo, each in their own areas of expertise, will teach the students the skills needed to play, understand, and enjoy music in a positive and encouraging environment. Our goal is to help the students reach their goals by giving them tools to better practice and improve their musical skills. Lessons are tailored based on the student level and interests.

STUDENT & FAMILY RESPONSIBILITIES

Students agree to arrive at each lesson punctually, well-prepared, and with their assignment books, music, notebook, writing supplies, and instrument (if applicable). To make good progress in music, consistency in practice and homework is necessary and expected.

Please ask questions about home assignments and recommended practice time to the teacher so the student and parents can completely understand the assignments and goals.

Students must arrive at the lesson with clean hands and trimmed nails.

MUSIC & MATERIALS

Each student is responsible for purchasing the required music and materials for lessons. Materials will be assigned by the professor and the student will be expected to have the materials no later than two weeks after the materials have been assigned. Advanced notice will be provided whenever possible.

Repertoire petitions and suggestions by the students are welcome, however it will be the teacher who makes the final decision.

Students must have their own instrument to practice at home. If you have questions or would like input on the purchase or rental of an instrument, please let the teacher know. The studio is happy to make recommendations.

TUITION AND SCHEDULE

*Please note that tuition reserves the weekly time slot, but may not directly correlate with lessons received if the student does not attend the scheduled lesson times.

Flat monthly tuition rates are based on the number of guaranteed lessons in the calendar year. There will be a minimum of 42 lessons offered throughout the year. The weeks where lessons will not be held (due to holidays, professional commitments, illness, etc.) have already been factored in the flat-rate tuition and will be communicated in advance when possible. In the case that there is a 5th weekly lesson in the month, this also has been factored in.

Automatic payment is available for all students and is the preferred method of payment. E-Transfer, PayPal (and similar services), and cash will not be accepted.

All payments are non-refundable. After the first payment, invoicing and payment will run automatically on the same day. Tuition will be drawn on the 1st of each month from the method on file. All automatic payments will be run through Stripe.

Payment received after the first of each month is subject to a $10 late fee. Payment received after the 7th of the month is subject to an additional $10 late fee and the lesson time for that student may not be reserved for the next month.

Recurring late payments may result in the termination of the student’s enrollment.

CANCELLATION POLICY

To cancel tuition, written notification must be received via email 2 weeks in advance. In the case that notice is not received by that deadline, the full tuition amount will be run automatically on the first of the month, and students have the option to attend all paid lessons that month. Lessons will then be canceled for the following month.

There will be one fixed day each month to use the make-up lesson credits for that same month. Several time slots will be available on that day. Availability will be sent by email two weeks in advance and an email must be sent requesting a specific time (first-come first-serve basis). Virtual or in-person lessons are possible on that day.

Lessons canceled by the teacher will be given as much notice as possible. Teacher cancellations outside of the guaranteed 42 annual lessons will be rescheduled within 30 days.

Tuition is based on the number of lessons the studio schedules and will not be altered. Planned vacations or other conflicts communicated to the teachers in advance receive a make-up lesson credit for that month.

*A student's spot will not be guaranteed for the fall term if they were not enrolled in lessons during the summer term.

VIRTUAL LESSONS

In the case of mild teacher illness, severe weather, or other conflicts, lessons may be held online virtually. When virtual lessons are offered, in-person make-up lessons will not be offered. If the student opts out of the virtual lesson that lesson and tuition will be forfeited. Tuition is non-refundable.

COMMUNICATION

Studio hours of operation are Monday to Friday between 9am to 5pm. Please allow 24 hours for response to all communication during the week. Communications outside of the studio operating hours may have a longer response time, and all weekend communication will be answered the following Monday. Email is the preferred method of communication.

By enrolling and paying tuition for myself or my child in Annie and Guillermo’s Studio, I certify that I understand and agree to the studio policies for the 2025 calendar year.

PHOTO AND VIDEO RELEASE FORM

From time to time we use photos and short videos of our students around the studio, on the studio website, or in social media posts. These videos and posts are encouraging to other students and helpful to other teachers. If you do not want your child's image(s) to be used, please let us know. The students are identified only by first name.
